Practical Information

First of all, let me say that you are brave for wanting to work on yourself. Counselling is a first step in making your life more happy and fulfilling. Knowing that something needs to change in your life is a great catalyst for growth.

Getting Started

To begin this process, I offer a free initial phone consultation during which you can get to know me and my approach to therapy. We can discuss your needs and expectations, and schedule our first session together.

Our first counselling session is focused on building trust. Clients generally take the time to explain what problems and issues they would like to work on. Based on this, we can set goals for therapy together.

The second counselling session is focused on getting to know you in more detail. Together, we will undertake a complete clinical assessment, during which we will talk about your life, family, childhood, and medical history. This assessment is necessary to get a better picture of what shaped you to become who you are. It can take up to two sessions, depending on your life experiences. Based on this, I will provide you with a personalised treatment plan, and we will work together to make strategies to achieve your therapy goals.

Intervention

After this, I usually meet clients once a week for sessions that last 50 minutes. Depending on your goals and needs, this phase can be as little as 6 sessions or many more based on your personalised treatment plan.

Ending

It is important to complete our time in therapy together in a deliberate way. Based on your progress, we can decide when is an appropriate time to scale back on the frequency of our sessions. If you feel that you have reached your goals, we can draft strategies together to help you cope autonomously with the pressures of life. Know that if you ever need to talk to someone, my door is always open to you.

Practical Information

I offer sliding scale payments for students and people in need. In case you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I will need to know 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, you will be charged for the session.

My therapy sessions are covered by Cigna insurance. I provide monthly invoices to my clients for insurance purposes.
